Obituary Asa J. Bell – The Penobscot Times, Old Town, Maine.

Funeral services for Asa J. Bell were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St.Joseph’s Catholic Church, Old Town.

Mr. Bell, 75, died Sunday in a Bangor hospital following a long illness.  he was the widower of Miriam (Jewers) Bell.  he had worked at the Penobscot Chemical Fibre Company.

Mr. Bell was born March 25, 1895 in Winn, the son of Alex and Agnes (Mishou) Bell.  He had been making his home with a daughter, Miss Daphne Bell in Argyle.

He is survived by two sons, Durwood of Argyle and Verlynn of Old Town; four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Allegra) Thibodeau, Old Town; Miss Daphne T. Bell, Argyle; Mrs. Waverly Withers, Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota and Sister Gail Bell, University of Michigan; three brothers, Reginald of Carmel, Stanley of Columbus, Ohio and Vernon of Keene, N.H., four sisters, Mrs. Grace LeFavre, Mrs. Winifred MacMillan and Mrs. Ruth Thaxter all of Portland, and Mrs. Hazel Trott, West Falmouth; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Bell, who retired in 1964, was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Howland.

Interment was inForest Hill Cemetery in Old Town.
